THE PSYCHOANALYSM

Chiericallo founded “the psychoanalism” or “the painting of psychoanalysis” in 1960.

He has been unanimously recognized, due to the in-depth introspection accompanying the suffering and cries of his characters, as the first Artist to introduce the complex problems of psychoanalysis into painting.
Through dreams, the Master describes human suffering with all its complexes. For example, we can see the suffering of being unable to escape solitude in his work “Incommunicability” (1963), then in “The wrench” (1966) from the “Oedipus complex” period: society (symbolically represented by evil spirits), wrenches out the heart of a child, in despair at no longer having his mother to protect him from the dangers of life.

In another work, “Time is in eternity” (1974) (the period of written messages), he tackles the problem of the other dimension, the one that is unknown to us and buried deep in our psyche, and the one we live in as its prisoners, which we call time.
In his violet period (1976-80), women’s faces also emerge from his subconscious and he represents them in another dimension as though from another galaxy or ectoplasms and so on.

In the period of mirrors (1985) he also expresses his Ego and his psyche and undergoes self-analysis (he represents the subconscious with masks, old women and clowns, all coming from another dimension).

The press spoke of Chiericallo as the “Master of psychoanalysis”. In his interviews, for example by the magazine “Alba” in 1973, he declared that his symbolism was completed more clearly through words.
He was thus declared an artist of genius.
